Precision machined and manufactured in the good ol' USA in Salisbury, Massachusetts, Big Fat Tackle’s 13” Deep Swivel Rod Holder was mainly designed to fit big game 80lb and 130lb bent butt rods to enable the butt of the rod to easily rotate in the rod holder when side pressure is applied to the tip of the rod. When trying to catch big game fish such as Blue Fin Tuna, having this capability in a rod holder is essential, as excessive reel drags can cause immense force on the rod holder pin. By allowing the tip of the rod to follow the fish, BFT’s Swivel Rod Holder reduces the chance of line fraying and improved drag as the line streams sideways out of the roller tip instead of over the roller. Also, since the rod is not locked on a set pin, it is much easier to remove from the holder. BFT’s Swivel Rod Holder can act as a standard rod holder when used with straight butt rods, which can be manually rotated so the line stays on the tips roller. A four (4) bolt mounting pattern and 4.5” x 5” four (4) bolt flanges with backing plate make for easy installation of BFT’s Swivel Rod Holders. The amount of torque required to rotate the swivel is set by adjusting the pressure on a set of drag washers with a 1/2” wing nut and lock washer.
